Slightly spicy, a little sweet, and oh-so deliciously easy to make, what else could you ask for in a sweet potato fry?!

Plus, can we talk about the fact that they’re the perfect texture of a little crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside? Seriously, I could eat these easy sweet potato fries for every single meal and never get tired of them.

And as a Registered Dietitian, I share tons of easy sweet potatoes recipes since they’re absolutely packed with both beta-carotene and fiber, most of which is alllll in the skin of the sweet potatoes!

Because of that, I tested these crispy sweet potato fries both with and without the skin, and can confidently say that I actually prefer them with…. And I’m not just saying that! But of course, if you prefer peeling your sweet potato fries, you do you!

The Spicy-Sweet Secret To These Fries!

Now, what makes these sweet potato fries a little different, you ask?

We actually mix the ingredients for the topping, like the olive oil, maple syrup, and spices, so that we make sure each fry is perfectly coated with the spicy-sweetness. If you don’t have maple syrup on hand, I’ve also tested using honey in this recipe instead and they’re equally as delicious!

Plus, we add some cayenne for that SPICY flavor we’re looking for! I like cayenne pepper for these fries because it mixes so well with the other ingredients and coats the fries perfectly, but if you only have chili flakes on hand, I’ve tested that out, and it’ll work, too (it just might not be as spicy)!

AND, I use my famous 5-Minute Creamy Dipping Sauce as the perfect accompaniment. It’s totally optional, but HIGHLYYYY encouraged!

My Top Tips For Crispy Success!

I tested these baked sweet potato fries a few times ot make sure they give that crisp facor and here are my top tips:

  • Make sure you’re cutting the sweet potato evenly, so they cook evenly!
  • While the olive oil and maple syrup glaze is obivously important for this recipe, make sure you’re actually measuring the ingredients, because too much of either will result in soggy fries (trust me, I’ve tried it).
  • Make sure you leave enough space between each fry when baking so that they have enough room to actually roast, rather than steam!
