If there’s one thing I don’t stand for, it’s a sucky salad. And let me tell you, this barbecue chickpea salad is the furthest thing from sucky. It’s healthy, quick and easy, and guess what? It actually tastes amazing.
If I’m going to go through the effort of making a salad, it better be satisfying. And I can almost guarantee you that this salad won’t leave you feeling peckish again 30 minutes later. It’s packed with plant-based protein and fiber from the Easy BBQ Chickpeas, plus healthy fats from the 5-Minute Vegan Tahini Ranch Dressing.

What makes this Salad Healthy?
I’m so glad you asked! While ‘healthy’ means different things to different people, I’d consider this salad healthy since it has a great balance of protein, carbs, fat, fiber and flavor! We’ve got protein and fiber from the chickpeas, healthy fats from the vegan tahini ranch, and tons of flavor from the BBQ sauce and flavourful dressing. What more could you ask for in a salad?!
Main Ingredients and Substitutions
10-Minute BBQ Chickpeas: Canned chickpeas (aka the easiest protein ever) coated in a delicious BBQ sauce and cooked on the stove for just a few minutes to result in the most delicious, saucy chickpeas that add so much flavor to this salad.
Vegan Tahini Ranch Dressing: Picture the creamiest vegan ranch drizzled over these BBQ chickpeas and adding a delicious tangy flavor! I make a double batch of this salad dressing and also use it to dip veggies in.
Crunchy veggies: I used a mixture of romaine, grated carrot, green onion, parsley and diced tomato, but really any veggies that you have on hand will work!

What to pair this easy salad with
While this salad is absolutely delicious on its own, it also goes well alongside your favorite sandwich, pizza, or maybe at your next BBQ alongside a veggie sausage!

How to Make this Barbecue Chickpea Salad
- Start by preparing the 10-Minute BBQ Chickpeas.
- While those are cooking, make your Vegan Ranch Dressing.
- Chop your vegetables. Once all components are made, add the veggies to a large bowl, top with the barbecue chickpeas, and drizzle the salad dressing on top to your hearts content. Combine and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
While I recommend making a full batch of the vegan tahini ranch, you may have leftovers! I recommend storing the BBQ chickpeas, vegan ranch, and veggies in separate containers to keep them as fresh as possible. These will likely last up to 5 days in the fridge.

- 1 batch BBQ Chickpeas
- 1 batch Creamy Vegan Ranch Dressing
- 1 head of romaine lettuce chopped
- 1 carrot grated
- 1/4 red onion diced
- 1 green onion sliced
- 1/4 cup parsley chopped, cilantro works too!
- 1/2 large cucumber diced
