Friends, there’s a new favorite dip in town, and it’s this creamy, spicy, Chickpea Buffalo Dip!

Now, I have a lot of healthy vegan dip recipes, but I seriously can’t get enough of this buffalo chickpea dip. It all started because I wanted to develop a recipe that was sort of similar in flavor to the classic buffalo chicken dip, but without the chicken or dairy, and WAY easier to make.

Enter this vegan buffalo dip! Just like my super popular 5-Minute Hummus (with Canned Chickpeas!), it takes all of 5 minutes to make and is tangy, slightly spicy, and creamy dreamy!

If you’re looking for another high-protein dip recipe, don’t miss my Cilantro Lime Edamame Dip! It’s super fresh, flavorful and checks all of the boxes of being a healthy snack!

What Makes It So Creamy?

Drumroll, please…. Vegan mayonnaise and nutritional yeast!

I know vegan mayo and nutritional yeast might sound super weird to add to a dip, but hear me out! Just a few dollops of vegan mayo blended into this Chickpea Buffalo Dip adds so much creaminess, and the nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor!

But if you don’t have any vegan mayo on hand, don’t worry! I’ve also tested this recipe using vegan butter and it works great; it just isn’t quite as creamy as the mayo, so keep that in mind!

I’ve also tested this recipe without the nutritional yeast, and while it totally works and is still super flavorful, I prefer it with it!

Ways to Use This Dip

Luckily this dip couldn’t be more versatile! I absolutely love pairing it with veggies, crackers or pita chips for easy snacking, or spreading it on a sandwich for tons of flavor.

Wanna Make It Spicier?

You totally can! The amount of hot sauce that I use in this recipe makes for a mild dip, so you can totally add an extra tablespoon to increase the spiciness!

5-Minute Chickpea Buffalo Dip (Dairy-Free!)

This creamy, 5-Minute Chickpea Buffalo Dip is absolutely packed with tangy, spicy goodness, uses canned chickpeas, and is dairy-free with absolutely no cooking! It's a delicious, high-protein healthy snack to pair with veggies or crackers!

Ingredients

  • 540 ml canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tbsp frank hot sauce, or other vinegar based hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegan mayo
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp soy milk, see notes
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Equipment

  • Food processor or high speed blender

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to the food processor and blend until super smooth, which takes about 3-4 minutes. Serve with veggies or crackers and enjoy!

Notes

Depending on how high-powered your food processor or blender is, you may need to add more soy milk. I recommend doing this 1 tablespoon at a time so that the dip doesn’t get too liquidy.
