This high-protein Strawberry Smoothie is absolutely bursting with both flavor AND a whopping 20 grams of protein, WITHOUT any protein powder or dairy! We use soy milk, frozen strawberries, and half a frozen banana as the base for this perfectly sweet smoothie that takes less than 5 minutes to whip up and is the perfect light breakfast or snack!

If there’s one thing I know, it’s smoothies.
Not just because I’ve shared so many delicious, easy smoothie recipes, but because I’ve drank my Easy Vegan Green Smoothie Recipe for breakfast for, oh, I dunno, the past ten years (yup, really!).
So when I set out to test this best ever strawberry smoothie, I knew it had to be thick, creamy, and bursting with sweet strawberry goodness.
Plus, as a Registered Dietitian, it was important to me that it was both high in protein and dairy-free. Bonus points for healthy fats from the flax seeds!
And the best part? It still has that classic sweet, fruity, and creamy flavor you expect from the perfect strawberry smoothie. What’s not to love?!
Dietitian tip: It’s important to make sure we’re using ground flax seeds to make sure our body can absorb all of the beneficial nutrients from the flax, like omega-3!

Easy Ingredient Swaps for Your Strawberry Smoothie
The ingredient list is already super short, so I wouldn’t recommend making a ton of swaps unless you want to totally change the recipe. With that being said, I’ve tested a few different versions with different ingredients and they’re all approved by me!
- Swap frozen banana for avocado: If you don’t love bananas in smoothies or want to make the strawberries stand out even more!
- Swap soy milk for another milk, like almond milk, but keep in mind this will probably lower the protein count!
- Swap flax seeds for chia or hemp seeds for another nutrient-dense option!
- Omit the vanilla extract and salt if you want, although they do enhance the flavor to make the smoothie pop!

Other Optional Additions
- Your favorite protein powder for an extra protein boost!
- Peanut butter, for a PB&J smoothie!
- A handful of spinach or kale for some extra greens.
- A drizzle of maple syrup or honey for a little extra sweetness.
- Coconut flakes to garnish if you’re feeling fancy!

Wondering What to Pair This Smoothie With?
This sweet strawberry smoothie is perfect on its own as a snack or light breakfast, but if you’re looking for something a little heartier, it also pairs perfectly with my Best Ever Healthy Blueberry Muffins (Made With Oatmeal!).

Time to Blend Up a Smoothie!
So often I hear people say their smoothies are bland, boring or just taste… off, and my advice for this is that smoothies are allllll about the ratios, baby!
Plus, it’s important to make sure your banana is frozen so that it makes the smoothie super thick and creamy!
You may need more liquid than I did in your smoothie if you don’t have a high-powered blender, but just make sure to add it little by little as needed, so you don’t add too much and end up with a watery smoothie!
