This high-protein Blueberry Kale Smoothie is bursting with both flavor AND nearly 20 grams of protein, with zero protein powder or dairy needed! We use soy milk, frozen blueberries, banana and kale as the base for this super healthy smoothie that takes less than 5 minutes to whip up and is the perfect energizing breakfast or snack!

Friends, this smoothie is basically health in a glass, but would you believe me if I said it still tastes AMAZING?!
Now, as a self-proclaimed delicious smoothie recipe expert (like, hello, have you tried my Best Ever Strawberry Smoothie?!), I can confidently say this blueberry kale smoothie is one you don’t want to miss.
Absolutely Packed with Blueberry Goodness!
Okay, I know the color of this kale and blueberry smoothie probably isn’t going to win any beauty contests, but you’re going to have to trust me when I say that even though this smoothie is seriously packed with nutrition, (like, 20g of protein and 15 grams of fiber worth!), which makes me very happy as a Registered Dietitian, the juicy, sweet and slightly tart flavor of the blueberries still shines through.
And I promise, if you’re not a huge frozen kale smoothie lover, you can hardly even taste it because the sweetness of the banana totally balances out the earthiness of the kale!

Switch It Up: Smoothie Style
I tested this high protein blueberry smoothie a few different ways in case you don’t have all the ingredients on hand! Here are some of the swaps I tried:
- Fresh blueberries & kale instead of frozen: In my experience, using fresh kale usually means the flavor of it is going to stand out more, but you do you! If you’re using fresh blueberries and kale, I recommend adding a handful of ice to the smoothie to make sure it’s still nice and cold.
- Avocado instead of banana: This adds a creaminess to the smoothie if you don’t love banana!
- Spinach instead of kale: If you really can’t get behind kale, spinach totally works in this, too! We use spinach in my Easy Vegan Green Smoothie Recipe and it’s delish!
I developed this blueberry and kale smoothie is great on its own, but if you’re wanting it as a full meal, I highly recommend pairing it with my Quick Vegan Egg Bites with Chickpea Flour since they can be prepped ahead and are DELISH!
Let’s Blend, Baby!
