Yup, the Air Fryer Works

Much like my 15-Minute Air Fryer Canned Chickpeas, I tested this recipe both in the oven and in the air fryer, and the air fryer does make them more crispy and crunchy!

If you’re making them in the air fryer, cook ’em at 400°F for 15 minutes, shaking the air fryer basket halfway through, and adjust the time as needed so they get perfectly crispy!

The Easiest 20-Minute Buffalo Chickpeas (Healthy!)

This easy buffalo chickpea recipe takes just 20 minutes, starts with simple canned chickpeas, and bakes up in the oven into the most irresistible crispy buffalo chickpeas. They’ve got that spicy, buttery kick you love from classic buffalo flavor, plus plenty of plant-based protein and fiber to keep you full. Snack on them straight from the pan, or toss them on top of salads, wraps, or bowls for the ultimate flavor boost!

Ingredients
 

  • 540 ml canned chickpeas, or about 2 cups, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp vegan butter, melted, regular butter works too!
  • 3 tbsp Frank's Red Hot Sauce, or other vinegar-based hot sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Equipment

  • 1 large sheet pan
  • parchment paper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven the 450℉ and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the drained and rinsed chickpeas, melted butter, hot sauce, garlic powder, nutritional yeast and salt and toss well to combine.
  • Spread the chickpeas evenly on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the liquid has evaporated and the chickpeas look slightly golden brown and lightly crispy. Enjoy!

Notes

These buffalo chickpeas are best served fresh, but you can refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days!
