Who needs mediocre store-bought salad dressing when you can whip up a delicious, healthy homemade vegan ranch dressing in 5 minutes?! Made by whisking together tahini, lemon juice, dill, and a few additional spices, this creamy salad dressing is about to be your new go-to for salads and as a dip!

Listen, I love a ‘convenience’ option as much as the next person, and sometimes a store-bought salad dressing is all we have time for.
But if I’m being totally real with myself, I know that homemade salad dressings taste way better. Plus, they usually only take a few minutes to make and are usually a little more nutrient-dense than store-bought ones since you can control the amount of sugar and salt, which matters to me as a Registered Dietitian!
This easy vegan ranch dressing is so creamy, packed with flavour, and takes less than 5-minutes to make, meaning it’s the perfect quick addition to any salad

Why I Love Homemade Salad Dressings
- They can literally take 5 minutes to make
- They’re so flavorful
- You can control the proportions of different ingredients added
- They last in the fridge for up to a week, meaning you can make a larger batch to use throughout the week
- Not only are they delicious on salads, but can be great to dip veggies in, too!
Main Ingredients
Tahini: or blended sunflower seeds! Both work well here and provide a creamy base. Make sure if using tahini that it’s a runny consistency.
If you’re using sunflower seeds, use a high-powered blender to blend 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds with 1/2 cup of water and use that as your base, alongside the rest of the ingredients in the salad dressing! These are both a great source of healthy fats.
Dried dill: A must for ranch! While dried dill is super convenient, fresh dill also works perfectly. I’d recommend tripling the amount if using fresh dill.
Lemon Juice: For that quintessential tanginess of ranch! If you don’t have lemon juice on hand, apple cider vinegar would also work.
Maple syrup: For a hint of sweetness. I love using maple syrup in this ranch recipe since it blends so easily in to the salad dressing, but regular sugar or honey would also work.
Garlic & onion powder: For extra flavor!
Salt: Don’t skimp on the salt! It’s necessary to make this recipe taste like regular ranch.
Water: How much water you need will depend on how runny your tahini is, so feel free to start with just a couple of tablespoons and add more as needed.
