This 4-Ingredient Vegan Nutella Recipe is the perfect healthy snack recipe when you’re craving something sweet that’s so easy to make!
Growing up I was seriously obsessed with Nutella. My parents didn’t buy it, but every time I went to my friend’s house I would eat it by the spoonful.
Since going plant-based, I’ve been meaning to make a good vegan nutella recipe, and I finally did it. I honestly couldn’t believe how close it tasted to the real thing.
The great part about this recipe is it tastes sweet while only using a fraction of the sugar of regular Nutella.
Main Ingredient
Hazelnut butter: As the base! If you don’t have hazelnut butter, blend hazelnuts in a high speed blender or food processor until completely smooth (about 5 minutes).
Cocoa powder: For the chocolate flavor!
Maple syrup: For sweetness. If you don’t have maple syrup any sugar will do.
Oat milk: To thin the consistency a bit to make it perfect for dipping.
Vanilla extract: This is optional, but a delicious add-in!
Pinch of salt: To bring out the flavors!
Why I love this vegan nutella
- The pairing of chocolate and hazelnuts is so delicious!
- It’s a great addition to any snack plate since hazelnuts are a good source of healthy fats, fiber and vitamin E.
- It only takes 5 minutes to make.
- It’s a ‘healthier’ version of nutella since it only has 1 tsp of sugar per serving.

- Whisk together all ingredients and enjoy!
How to serve this Vegan Hazelnut Spread
I love having this easy nutella recipe with chopped fruit (especially strawberries!), toast, or stirred into oatmeal.
Storing leftovers
Store this vegan nutella in an airtight container in the fridge for up two weeks.
Recipe notes:
- Hazelnut butter will make this taste like true Nutella, but peanut butter or almond butter are also delicious.
- You may need to add more plant-based milk depending on the consistency of your hazelnut butter.
- If you don’t have maple syrup any sugar will work, you just may need to add more plant-based milk if you’re not using a liquid sweetener.
- If you’d prefer this to be more sweet, feel free to add an additional tsp of maple syrup!

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp hazelnut butter
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp plant-based milk plus more as needed, added 1 tsp at a time
- pinch of salt 1/16th of a tsp
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract optional
Instructions
- Whisk together all ingredients until smooth. Serve and enjoy!
