Tofu Talk: Picking the Perfect Type
This is a recipe with extra firm tofu, and while I’ve tested it with both firm and medium firm tofu, I definitely recommend using extra firm tofu for the best results!
If you absolutely must, firm tofu can work in a pinch, but it’ll definitely require pressing it to get rid of the excess water for at least 20 minutes beforehand!

Homemade Teriyaki Tofu for Stir Frys and More
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 batch of homemade Teriyaki Sauce
- 250g block extra firm tofu
Equipment
Instructions
- Cube tofu into 1 inch cubes.
- Toss in Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce.
- Heat a large pan with 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium heat. Add the tofu, and let cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping every 3 minutes. Try not to flip the tofu too often, as we want to allow for some browning and crisping on the sides.
- Add to your favorite stir-fry, salad, bowl or enjoy as a snack!
