Tofu Talk: Picking the Perfect Type

This is a recipe with extra firm tofu, and while I’ve tested it with both firm and medium firm tofu, I definitely recommend using extra firm tofu for the best results!

If you absolutely must, firm tofu can work in a pinch, but it’ll definitely require pressing it to get rid of the excess water for at least 20 minutes beforehand!

Homemade Teriyaki Tofu for Stir Frys and More

Healthy, flavorful, and ready in 20 minutes, this recipe for homemade teriyaki tofu is the perfect protein-packed addition to any stir fry, dinner bowl with rice, or even as a healthy snack!   • Extra firm tofu on a cutting board cut into 1 inch cubes with teriyaki sauce, lime and cilantro to the side.
    Cube tofu into 1 inch cubes.
  • Cubed tofu in a blue and white bowl tossed in teriyaki sauce.
  • Teriyaki tofu cooking in a pan.
    Heat a large pan with 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium heat. Add the tofu, and let cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping every 3 minutes. Try not to flip the tofu too often, as we want to allow for some browning and crisping on the sides.
  • Udon noodle stir fry with tofu and vegetables in it with lime to garnish.
    Add to your favorite stir-fry, salad, bowl or enjoy as a snack!
