Friends, you know I’m all about making cooking as easy as possible, but trust me when I say that making your own taco mix seasoning is COMPLETELY worth the effort because the flavor is out of this world.

Plus, it’s like, a fraction of the cost to make your own rather than buy those little packets at the store. And you can totally double or even triple this recipe to make a big batch, so you don’t have to keep running to the store when you want to make my absolutely delicious (and SUPER popular!) 10-Minute Spiced Black Beans!

Why You’ll Love This Spice Mix

As a Registered Dietitian, you know I’m all about making healthy food taste good so that you actually want to eat it, and I feel super confident saying that this chili mix seasoning will totally help you accomplish that.

Plus, I’ve tested this recipe so many times to make sure there’s no weird additives, filler ingredients, or sugar in my version, just good ol’ spices.

It’s smoky, slightly spicy (but not too spicy!) and pairs perfectly with any of my black bean recipes.

If I had to choose a favorite, I’d probably choose my 30-Minute Sheet Pan Black Bean Sweet Potato Tacos since it’s the perfect meal prep option that serves as a main dish! But I’ve developed this recipe to be delicious in chilis, tacos, and even tofu!

So What Spices Do You Need?

‘Kay, let’s gather the ingredients! I made sure when I was developing this recipe that the ingredient list was kept short and manageable without sacrificing any flavor, and not to toot my own horn, but I think I did a pretty good job.

All we need for this delish spice mix is chili powder, smoked paprika (regular works fine, too!), cumin, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt and pepper. Yup, that’s it!
