Looking for the perfect holiday dessert, snack or any-time-of-day recipe? Look no further than this Candy Cane Chocolate Date Recipe. Quick, easy, and inexpensive to make, this recipe is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. This date recipe also makes the perfect holiday gift- make a big batch ahead of time, portion them into mason jars, and gift to your family or friends! I’ve also brought these dates to potlucks, and they’re often the first thing eaten! These dates hold a special place in my heart because they remind me of my grandfather. He used to eat dates dipped in peanut butter and sugar, so whenever I eat these I think of him. This makes them extra special around the holidays.
Many date recipes rely on Medjool dates, which are extra gooey, soft and delicious. However, all I had on hand for this recipe were the smaller, less soft (and less expensive) dates that you can buy. Instead of trekking out in the snow to buy Medjool dates specifically for this recipe, I used the smaller dates that I had on hand and just used two, placed the peanut butter between the two, coated them in chocolate and candy cane, and called it a day. They turned out absolutely delicious. Of course, if you have Medjool dates on hand or prefer to use those, you absolutely can! Just remove the pit, place the peanut butter where the pit was, and coat in chocolate and candy cane as per the instructions.
I hope you love these candy cane, peanut butter, and chocolate dates as much as I do!
Candy Cane Chocolate Date Recipe
These candy cane, peanut butter and chocolate dates are sure to be a holiday crowd pleaser! The easiest, quickest, and most delicious recipe- perfect for holiday gifts or to keep for yourself!
- 15 Medjool dates OR 30 small dates
- 1 cup vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips I use the PC brand
- 1 tsp coconut oil helps the chocolate harden, but can be omitted
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup crushed candy cane
Line a plate with parchment paper
Remove pits from dates.
Heat chocolate chips and coconut oil over double boiler until smooth.
If using Medjool dates, spread a small amount of peanut butter where the pit was in the dates. If using small dates, spread a small amount of peanut butter on one side of the dates, and stick another date to the peanut butter, making an enclosing around the peanut butter.
Dip peanut butter dates in melted chocolate then place on parchment-lined plate.
Sprinkle crushed candy canes on date. Repeat for all dates.
Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, until chocolate has hardened. Enjoy!
