Taco Spiced Black Beans with Canned Beans

Super flavourful and packed with fiber an protein (love this as a Registered Dietitian!) my quick seasoned black beans are the perfect addition to any salad or taco. We simply combine the black beans in a homemade taco spice blend and cook on the stovetop until fragrant!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 540 ml canned black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Drain and rinse your beans.
  • Heat a large pan over medium heat with the olive oil. Once the pan is hot, add the drained and rinsed beans.
  • Add the chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili flakes, salt and pepper. Stir to combine, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until you notice that some of the beans have started to crack open.
  • Use the beans in your favorite salad, burrito, wrap, stuffed potatoes, or as a snack!

Notes

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
